CAURUS Technologies‘ „Smart WATER“ project for digitally guided, ultra-efficient wildfire response has won first place in the MakeItMatter Award 2025. Anja Burde, CEO of the Elektrizitätswerken (EWS) Schönau presented the prize to CAURUS Technologies’ CEO Philippe Telle during the Green Tech Startup Night. EWS Schönau and the Baden Württemberg state accelerator smart green grant the award on an annual basis to start-up pioneers with technical solutions that contribute to the fight against climate change. A jury of seven people selected CAURUS Technologies‘ „Smart WATER“ out of 70 applications.
„Once you’ve seen a fire live and close up, like I have done, then you know how important the subject of better wildfire response is. To see so many committed minds continuing to work on developing new technologies to strengthen climate protection and to initiate effective climate adaptation measures, despite the global political rollback in climate protection, makes us very confident for the future.” Anja Burde when presenting the award to Philippe Telle
Telle was delighted about the fantastic recognition of the team’s work and about the opportunity to highlight the significance of this innovative technology for wildfire response. Prior to the award presentation, he had presented the core innovations of the company in a short pitch to a broad audience of founders, investors, energy industry professionals and climate experts. Here, he emphasized the need to use the increasingly scarcer resource of water as efficiently as possible in wildfire fighting. To achieve better efficiency in the face of increasingly extreme and more frequent forest fires, CAURUS Technologies has developed a system which allows to map the course of the fire with the help of digital technologies, combined with an innovative water drop and dispersion extinguishing mechanism directly at the combustion source in the fire. The digital guidance system also measures and analyses water drop data with regards to its extinguishing efficiency and enables the incident command to plan significantly more strategic aerial wildfire fighting missions.
„Der MakeItMatter-Award ist für uns und sicherlich auch für unseren tollen Mitgewinnern noch mal ein Ansporn, mit Nachdruck an unseren Technologien zu arbeiten“ Philippe Telle bei der Preisannahme
